Pakistani cricket captain Sarfraz Ahmed played a captain inning and was unbeaten at 61 to lead Pakistan to victory against Sri Lanka.

Earlier Pakistan had great start in run chase as Fakhar Zaman (50) and Azhar Ali (34) provided solid foundation and added 74 runs for the first wicket.  However middle order bating line up failed again and Sri Lanka got back in the match.

Just when Sri Lankan started to feel grip on the match Sarfraz played a memorable captain inning (61*) and helped Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 3 wickets and qualify for Semis for ICC champions trophy 2017.

Pakistan captain and man of the match, thanked the Almighty Allah and admit that he can’t believe that they have won.  He attributed his side’s win to Amir who played so confidently and provided him great relive while he was in pressure.  He also praised his bowlers Junaid Khan (3/40) and Hasan Ali (3/43) to bowl Sri Lanka out for 236. Apart from Junaid and Hasan, Fahim Ashraf and Mohammad Amir claimed 2 wickets each.

Sri Lanka captain, Angelo Mathews stated that it was seesaw kind of game.  He praised Pakistan for their win and admired that they held their nerves in very intense moment and they are deserving winner.  He praised his team and stated although his team was an inexperience side but proud of the way his team fought so hard.

If Pakistan overcome England in Cardiff on Thursday, Pakistan will play their first ever Champions Trophy final on Sunday against winner of 2nd Semi final between Bangladesh and India.
