PM Nawaz Sharif also approves grant of 5 int’l fellowships annually to Pakistani students for PhD in Physics in the name of Professor Abdus Salam.
He directed Ministry of Federal Education and Professional to put up formal summary for the purpose.
The Prime Minister has also approved grant of five fellowships annually to Pakistani students for PhD in Physics in reputed international universities in the name of Professor Abdus Salam Fellowship.
The decision has been taken in recognition of the great contributions of renowned Pakistani physicist, Dr Mohammad Abdus Salam who is a major figure in the 20th century theoretical physics. He shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics for his contribution in the field of physics.
He was the first Pakistani to receive a Nobel Prize in science and the second from an Islamic country to receive any Nobel Prize.
